The Lodge is located in the tourist town of Karatu on the Western south Slopes of Ngorongoro Crater at the 1,400 feet above sea level; the Lodge sits in a garden of flowers and vegetables. The property offers spectacular sweeping views of the hills and close distant to the Ngorongoro Crater, Lake Eyasi, Lake Manyara and Tarangire National Park.

The warm and cosy rooms overlook the reserve and tropical gardens, the large en-suite bathrooms include WC, shower and washbasins as well as luxurious toiletries. The bedrooms open up to a terrace that is furnished with a table and chairs.

Serengeti Heritage Luxury Tented Camp provides its guests with the most authentic Africa experience due to its colonial, old days hunter’s camp ambience. Rhino Lodge is ideally located on the edge of the Ngorongoro crater rim. The Lodge was originally the home of Ngorongoro’s first conservator, and its developers have maintained the house’s original rustic, low-impact style and natural setting. Rhino Lodge offers a perfect base from which to explore the Ngorongoro crater and its surroundings. Game drives into the crater, and, for the more adventurous, walking safaris in the forest reserve and visits to nearby Maasai villages, can all be arranged from the lodge. And, on return after a long day, 24 comfortable en suite rooms with forest views, a cozy living space, friendly local staff and generous African-inspired meals offer guests a warm welcome home.

Arrival in Arusha

Upon arrival at the airport (Kilimanjaro or Arusha) you will be met by Nasikia Safaris’ representative and drive you to your accommodation in Arusha for overnight stay waiting for your adventures to start on the following day.

Arusha to Tarangire National Park

Early morning after breakfast at around 8:00am, you will have a short briefing before you depart to Tarangire National Park. The park with its endless tree savannah including the impressive baobab trees and seasonal marshes is also home to the largest population of elephants in northern Tanzania. You are also likely to spot giraffes, buffaloes, lions, zebras, gnus and other types of antelopes and gazelles. Your guide will open the roof of the vehicle for excellent wildlife viewing. Hot Lunch will be served at around 12:30pm at the picnic site and after that you will continue to explore this incredible park. In the evening after exploration, you will drive straight to your accommodation in Karatu area for dinner and overnight stay.

Karatu to Central Serengeti National Park

Early morning after breakfast at around 8:00am, you will drive straight to Serengeti National Park passing through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Continue your journey around the crater and descend the other side, enjoying your free “African massage” on the bumpy road, passing through Maasai villages on your way to the Serengeti National Park. At the Naabi Hill entrance gate, you can walk to a viewpoint with spectacular views across the endless plains of the Serengeti. Hot lunch will be served either at the gate or en-route towards the heart of Serengeti with an incredible set up by your guide inside the bush. The Serengeti National Park is home to the largest concentration of wildlife than anywhere else on the planet. You will have an unlimited drive until in the evening where you will drive straight to your tented camp or lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Central Serengeti to North Serengeti following the great migration & Mara river crossing

Early morning after breakfast at your accommodation, we will drive straight to the far north of Serengeti National Park known as Kogatende to follow the great migration of more than a million of wildebeests accompanied by hundred thousands of Zebras and antelopes. During July – October,the wildebeest are in the northern Serengeti plains, and you have a chance of seeing up to thousands crossing the great Mara River. As the sight of the wildebeest crossing the so dramatic, it is considered by many the most desirable time to see the migration. You will not only see the migration of wildebeests but also other animals such as predators hunting their prey and other birds’ species at the area. After lunch and extensive game viewing, you will drive straight to your carefully selected accommodation for dinner and overnight.

Full day in North Serengeti Kogatende

Early morning after breakfast at your accommodation, we will proceed our game drive on the northern Serengeti (Kogatende) following the great migration. You will spend this full day on the northern Serengeti for game viewing and if you’re lucky enough you can spot the crossing at the Mara river as well as crocodiles hunting their prey during the crossing. After lunch and game drive, you will head straight for your accommodation for dinner and overnight.

Northern Serengeti National Park to Ngorongoro Conservation Area

Early morning after breakfast, you will drive straight from Northern Serengeti to Ngorongoro conservation area en-route whereby you will arrive in the late afternoon at your accommodation on the rim of the crater for relaxation, dinner and overnight before your game drive inside the crater on the following day.

Ngorongoro crater to Arusha

Early morning after breakfast at your accommodation, you will descend down the crater. The Ngorongoro Crater is the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera forming a spectacular bowl of about 265 square kilometres, with sides up to 600 metres deep and is home to approximately 30,000 mammals. The crater floor consists of a number of different habitats that include grassland, swamps, forests and Lakes filled by the Munge River. All these various environments attract wildlife to drink, wallow, graze, hide or climb. The crater offers a breathtakingly beautiful scenery and is the best place in East Africa to see the ‘Big Five’ (elephant, rhinoceros, buffalo, lion and rarely leopard). Any safari in northern Tanzania should ideally include a visit to the Ngorongoro Crater. It is one of the most beautiful nature safari locations in the world and an extraordinary place to meet people from the Massai tribe. The Ngorongoro Crater offers excellent birding, with over 500 species. You will have packed picnic lunch boxes with you and after having lunch at the picnic site, you will proceed with game drive until the late afternoon where you will ascend the crater and drive straight to Arusha where your adventures end with us. If you would like to have an extra night in Arusha, we can arrange that for you or if you are flying, we will drive you straight to the airport to catch your onwards flight.
